  • random.brainstorm - Excellent Self-Help Guide for the Recovering Addict

If you or someone you love is trying to break free of a huge ship habit, then you will want to add this one to your library. Trimmer's personal journey is both insightful and deeply personal. He tried his first row-boat in middle school and before he knew it he was hooked on yachts and tugs. In college, his addiction turned to huge ships, at which point he dropped out, and over the next several years he became involved in increasingly destructive behavior. He knew he needed to get himself under control, but it took a major huge ship overdose and two nearly-fatal relapses before he decided he had to turn his life around. It took several years, but he has now moved inland and is happily married. During the summer, you'll find him at his No Dinghy Ranch in the Nevada desert, where he operates a special retreat program for huge ship addicts. He's appeared as an expert on several talk shows and is a prominent voice in the national discussion to license paddleboats and legislate harsher penalties for selling canoes and rafts to minors.

Based on other 12-step programs, you will also want to get his "Huge Ship Recovery Workbook", which helps you keep track of your personal goals and implement Trimmer's method for a huge ship free life.

It worked for me! I've not only been huge ship free for several years, but I've actually eliminated all flotation devices from my life. I steer clear of puddles and swimming pools, and if a cruise commercial comes on the radio, I just immediately switch the station. Thanks to Trimmer, I've been able to avoid huge ships permanently!

Whether or not huge ships have ruined your life, you can still get involved. Huge Ship recovery groups have formed in most metropolitan areas. And we could always use more volunteers to help people who are stuck on huge ships to get off them.

PS. When you order the book, please keep in mind that shipping is never free! Its toll on human life and on our economy can't begin to be measured. The shipping industry is a multi-billion dollar industry in the U.S. alone, and it is estimated that tens of thousands of people waste millions of hours on huge ships every year. We simply must end this madness and return to healthier methods. (I personally advocate reviving the Pony Express. Having said that, I realize that some people are allergic to horses, so I understand if you don't think this is the ideal solution.)

  • W. - SCD has worked for me

A year and a half ago I tried this diet based solely on the reviews I read here. I have been in remission since then. I remember reading these very reviews thinking, "How can this book be a cure when I've had this disease for over a decade and nobody's mentioned it to me? If it was as simple as this diet, surely a doctor would have recommended it by now." I was highly skeptical. I was even worried that it was a cult or something, that it was New Age bunk, positive thinking, or something bizarre like that. But I tried it and, in short, the diet started working for me within 48 hours, and I stuck with it all the way through to total remission for 18 months now. I no longer need to be on the diet, and eat whatever I want now, because the diet has apparently reversed my Crohn's, as wild as that sounds, after a little less than the year she recommends one should adhere to it. I am still truly amazed. I'm writing this to the person out there reading this page who is like I was, skeptical to the core, burned in the past by New Age snake oil, and wary. I don't know if it will work for you, but it has worked for me. It was designed by a biochemist who has a real working theory behind it, and it is logical when you look at her reasoning. The idea is that complex carbs are just too taxing on your system, and removing them for a substantial period of time can sort of re-boot your GI tract. The one caveat is that I found I really had to be uncompromisingly strict with this diet, especially early on. I had to read all labels, give up restaurants, and needed my partner and family to help improvise a way of eating on this austere diet that was workable. It was not easy, but it was miles easier than being sick and in pain, so I stuck to it doggedly. It has paid off more than I ever expected. I feel obligated to write this review because the reviews that came before mine are responsible for me trying this diet, which, without overstatement, saved my life.

  • tingliucs - The Key to 750/800 in SAT Chemistry

First, this SAT Chemistry book is very well written. It covers all the major topics in high-school (first-year) chemistry.

Second, the included practice tests are very accurate. You can combine them with College Board's own SAT Chemistry practice test for your test preparation.

Third, if you have also taken a little bit AP Chemistry or IB Chemistry HL, you should aim at 800/800 after using this book.

  • ttomaz - my TF201 unboxing experience

Amazon delivered my TF201 yesterday evening. My 15 year old son was super excited and unpacked the device (we have a tablet?!_ Is it Tegra3?!). I entered my Android account info and went to the home office to take a conf call.
When I returned an hour later he was busy customizing the device. I did a quick check of the OS (Android 4.0.3) and checked WiFi perf (5Mb/s) and let the kids loose with it.
For the next 3 hours my boys (15, 14 and 9 years old) were fighting over who got to play with it next. Graphics and touch responsiveness are awesome. Visual computing taken to a new level.

Asus seems to have wrung out the early kinks and the Ice Cream Sandwich promise is real.
